The demand for skilled workers in industrial jobs in Central Iowa is on the rise. Goodwill of Central Iowa’s Warehouse & Logistics Skills Training Program provides basic skills for the industrial sector to individuals with barriers to employment, so they can join the 12.5 million American in the industrial field.
This 6-week course meets five days a week and combines hands-on training with classroom learning. The program teaches the skills necessary to successfully obtain and maintain employment:
Integrated in the 6-week Warehouse & Logistics training program is the potential to earn industry-recognized certifications. This allows people with barriers to employment to enter the job market with a proven testament to what they are capable of doing and the value they bring.
In 2019, Goodwill of Central Iowa placed over 100 people in manufacturing jobs in the community. As community needs shift in the employment market, Goodwill’s Warehouse, Packaging & Logistics project creates opportunities to mimic what job-seekers are looking for.
This program is available for anybody 18+ who faces a barrier to employment. Common barriers experienced by participants in the Warehouse & Logistics program are criminal backgrounds, disabilities, language barriers, homelessness, transportation barriers and a lack of work experience.
